Players at the IPL 2017 Auction Who Can Prove To Be Smart Choices

The 2017 edition of the IPL auction saw some rather interesting moves by the team. Rising Pune Supergiant seemed to have spent their budget on Ben Stokes while Kings XI Punjab chose to be conservative and KKR might have made the cleverest purchases. A total of 66 players were sold and here are some that might prove to be smart purchases.

Chris Woakes

KKR, Rs. 4.2 crore

While he is not the exact replacement for Andre Russell, he is still an excellent all-rounder. In fact, he was the best all-rounder in the auction after Stokes. He can add depth to KKR’s strong batting contingent while being an essential option for the slog overs.

Trent Boult

KKR, Rs. 5 crore

Another excellent purchase by KKR, Boult can prove to be the perfect replacement for Morne Morkel’s pace bowling capabilities.

Lockie Ferguson

Rising Pune Supergiant, Rs. 50 lakh

Pune lacks quality when it comes to pace bowling. However, they spent most of their budget on Stokes which made it harder for them to get quality players. However, Ferguson may prove to be an excellent option.

Tymal Mills

Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rs. 12 crore

Mills became the second most expensive player at the auction when sold at a shocking 24 times the base price he chose. He has also become the highest paid foreign bowler in the history of IPL.

Kagiso Rabada

Delhi Daredevils, Rs. 5 crore

For a team that has far too many amazing batsmen, bowlers will always be a necessity. Delhi managed to fulfill that requirement by getting a world-class bowler in the form of Rabada.ICC Champions Trophy Team Squads 2017
