Australian Coach’s Thoughts about India and Australia
The Australian coach, Darren Lehmann forecasted that India could strike back in the upcoming three Tests. The hosts lost their first home Test in Pune by 333 runs since December 2012.
Lehman stated that the way in which they played made it reasonable for them to win the game. However, they need to keep up this performance for their next test in Bangalore. He expects that India can come back pretty well in the next game. The coach found a similarity between Australia’s spinner Steve O’Keefe and Mitchell Johnson. Johnson’s threatening spell against England during 2013-14 series by ending up with a haul of 7 wickets which helped Australia win the match.
Lehmann was equally satisfied with the efforts of O’Keefe and Lyon, although it was the former who took some major wickets. He stated that after his team’s defeat in Sri Lanka Lyon was facing pressure from different quarters. However, in their first Test against India, Nathan performed well and was impressive. However, it was Steve who performed exceptionally in this game.
Lehmann also praised Steve Smith who scored a century in the second innings of the game. He stated that Steve being the captain knew the conditions of the pitch and wicket. He played really well and this it helped Australia in snatching the game to their favor. He also admired the efforts of opener Matt Renshaw who scored 68 and 31 in the game despite being troubled by a stomach bug. Lehman is happy that Renshaw at this young age is having a good insight into the game.
