Veteran pacer Ashish Nehra, who has been an integral part of Twenty20 set-up, expressed his desire to be a part of the final Indian squad for the forthcoming International Cricket Council Champions Trophy which is going to take place in June in England. For this, he wants to test his fitness and prove his mettle in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the domestic 50-over tournament.

Left-arm bowler Nehra, who last seen in the 50-over format at the semi-final against Pakistan during the 2011 World Cup, is hopeful of getting a seat in the Champions Trophy. He talked about how his vast bowling experience during any part of the innings can make him the most suitable candidate in the department of pace bowlers. He stated that he is comfortable in bowling from every side, be it up front, at death, and in the middle order. His experience can prove to be helpful for the young fast bowlers.

Nehra added that in order to regain his fitness he is willing to play at least 3 matches in the domestic cricket tournament Vijay Hazare trophy. The domestic cricket tournament would provide him a platform to test himself. He even claimed that while practicing for T20 matches he bowls for eight overs in the net According to him it’s not about fitness but getting a feeling of playing the 50-over match.

However, he feels that once he plays the Vijay Hazare matches, he will be fit enough to earn a spot for the Champions Trophy.
