Shahid Afridi Unveils the ICC Champions Trophy 2017
The former captain of the Pakistan Cricket team, Shahid Afridi, on 21st of February unveiled the prestigious trophy for ICC Champions Trophy at the headquarters of International Cricket Council.
According to sources, the former skipper unveiled the trophy and clicked selfies. This year, champions Trophy is going to be hosted by England and is expected to begin on 1st June. This grand cricket event will conclude on June 18. A total of eight teams is participating in this grand cricket tournament. However, India’s rival and the neighboring country will come face to face on June 8.
Speaking during the event the veteran player said that the ICC Champions Trophy is the event which gives him and millions of Pakistan cricket fans a mixed feeling. Pakistan has never gotten the chance to win the ICC Tournament; however, it is only during the ICC event they have got the chance to beat India. But he is hopeful of the fact that things may change as in sports nothing is permanent.
The skipper also stated that the cricket tournament will start in June and within the two-weeks, each side will get to play against a new opponent. This leaves the players with less chance to relax or bask in the glory of winning or losing a game. Like other teams, he also loves playing in the UK not only for its excellent playing facilities, but also for the rich cricket history and heritage it holds. He also expressed his gratitude to the ICC and the sponsors for supporting cricket and for taking the trophy on a global tour so that fans can hey connected with cricket.
